MS Tag Update on iPhone

Lots of breathless Tweets about the fact that the MS Tag Reader can now automatically recognize tags on the iPhone 3G (OS3.1 +). What everyone seems to have forgotten is that this is the way it used to work originally on the iPhone before it was mysteriously switched off some months ago. So what is all the fuss about? We've gone forward to the past.
